I just want to thank you for all the beautiful photography you have done of what I consider to be the most beautiful place on Earth. I have 2 of your books and will ask for the 3rd for my birthday. On my slide show screensaver at work are many of your photos of the islands and they help get me through the work week until I can be at the river again.
As a child I was a river rat kid. My father was part owner of Ina Island during the time it was run as a bar/restaurant and we sent the Monitor to the town dock in Alex Bay to pick up guests who had no other way of getting to the island. For years before that we kept our boat at Calumet and I remember trying to touch the sheep who ran wild on the island just to feel their soft fleece. I was nearly electrocuted there when I was about 7 after climbing out of the river to grab a hot cleat at the top of the ladder on the side of the pier. The mice had been chewing on the wires that ran to the big lights on the pier and shorted them out. My dad's best friend was Mike Bresnahan Sr. who has the most beautiful island in Lost Channel and Mike Jr., his sister Patty and I spent hours swimming the current down to Constance, swimming across to Little Georgina and then walking back up to Big Georgina to swim back down to Bresnahan's island. 45 years later I remember it like it was yesterday. Oh, so many memories! Your breathtaking photographs bring it all back every time I look at them. Thanks!
