Apr-30 Marilyn Colangelo, Ossining, New York You capture the wonderment of the 1000 Islands like no one else. Your pictures are so real and beautiful, each island becomes its own paradise surrounded by nature's gifts and the magnificent St. Lawrence river. It is truly magical viewing your pictures and website.
A recipe for a Delightful Vacation:
1 cup of sunshine,
a river full of fish,
1,900 islands well aged,
a small to medium boat with big propeller,
a large campfire,
a sprinkle of mist,
fresh crisp air,
a bunch of Ian Cortistine's albums,
a dash of moonlight,
Heat the river to 70 degrees, add 1,900 islands and mix with sunshine. Stir well with
boat propeller, sprinkle with mist and crisp air. Let sit by the campfire for 3 hours while
you enjoy Ian Cortistine's albums. Add a dash of moonlight to taste.

Apr-02 Lisa Anthony, West Chester, Pa I am currently a photography student down in Philadelphia, Pa and almost everyday I look at Ian Coristine's images to inspire me to create amazing work and beautiful photographs. He has been an inspiration to me and my work. In the future I hope to work or assist with Ian Coristine. I would be in heaven if that ever happened.
I have vacationed in the 1000 Islands area ever since I was a baby, even before that. I loved being in Upstate New York and Canada, and can't wait to eventually move up there someday in the future. In the meantime, I was ohh and aww over all of Ian's Images. |
Feb-15 David Kidd, Etobicoke, ON Have been truly enjoying your website and all the updates. Whenever I talk to anyone about the islands, I refer them to your site where all I get is "wow". |
Feb-06 Dave Sutkus, Edgewater, MD I have been coming up to the 1000 Islands since I was a kid and have since brought my kids there to enjoy its natural beauty. I didn't realize how much of it I had missed over all these years until I looked through your amazing pictures. A true work of art, Thanks for sharing! |
Feb-03 Alan Smith, New South Wales, Australia Thank you for your amazing photos and for sharing your wonderful region with the world. It's a brilliant insight into what appears to be a 'must see' destination. I have added it to my list of places that we must visit. |
Feb-03 Dale Hull, Syracuse, N.Y. Thank you for the great pictures. Having been on the river all my life, it's nice to go "home" when I'm stuck in the city. |
Feb-01 John A. McCullough, Boston, MA These are truly wonderful in the fullest sense of the word. Even the areas I know well appear new, and often require a second look to be sure where the subject is located! And the areas I don't know, and have not seen...!! I have resolved to get the Swiftwater out more often next Summer. |
Jan-24 Steve Beste, Springfield, VA I have this month's wallpaper up on my computer at work and everyone asks about it. I have no idea what makes your pictures so extraordinary, but everyone notices that they are. |
Jan-13 Robin Russell, Seattle, WA I have been around the world 10 - 12 times and have traveled extensively since I was 3 months old (now 67), but I am overwhelmed by the beauty of these albums of pictures. I can see why and how you fell in love with the area and so wanted to move there to live. These pictures are extravagantly and exquisitely beautiful. I applaud you for your effort and for your art. Thank you so much for the opportunity to look upon such treasures. |
Jan-13 Dorothy Sedock, Scranton, PA I have become mesmerized after just one visit to your website. For many reasons that I cannot now put into words, the area (especially Wellesley Island) has deep emotional attachment for me. In my search for websites that show the true magnificence of the 1000 Islands yours is the most elegant that I have ever touched upon. This is the first site that grabbed on to those feelings and conveyed to me the reason for them. |
Jan-12 Lila Lomanto - Clinton, NY I just discovered your website by accident. Beautiful photos. I miss being there so much this time of year. |
Jan-06 Kitt Jenae/California What a treat tonight to cross paths with your website! I just love admiring nature photography and often with a camera in hand manage to please myself sometimes. However it is no match for the awe I feel drinking in your spectacular shots! I feel envy for folks who live with such wonderous scenes surrounding them, WOW. I admire your great talent for capturing not only the beauty but the FEEL! |
Dec-27 Dan Grinter, Chippewa Bay, NY Keep up the great work. Was born and raised in the area and your photos say more than words could ever express about the natural beauty of the area. Recently purchased a place on Dillon Island in Chippewa Bay as a vacation home. It is amazing on an hour by hour basis how scenery changes on the river. You do such a wonderful job of capturing that. |
Dec-15 Georgia Ahrens, Syracuse, NY Your book was a much bigger surprise than I had expected and I'd seen your work before so I was prepared to be delighted. I had not seen this volume before but I purchased it as a Christmas gift for my Dad because I heard his shoreline was in in one of your photos. He lives in Scottsdale, AZ most of the time but on the St. Lawrence River during the summer. Of course, I had to read the book before I wrapped it (I was very careful). Then.....I got to page 91 and there is a beautiful photo of an enormous full moon hanging right over my Dad's camp! His is the camp with the blue roof. Wow, he's 86, I just hope he doesn't have a heart attack when he sees it! I can't thank you enough. This is going to be a Christmas to remember. |
Dec-12 Alexis Vecchio, Rochester, NY Many thanks for your wonderful work! My entire family (of the Watertown/Clayton/Sand Bay area) has the full Coristine collection of Thousand Island books and we look forward to new additions every Christmas! Those of us now far from home treasure the images when we can't be there ourselves- it's the next best thing. And we JUST received the new booklet as an early gift this year- a great addition to our coffee table collection! |
